Constantly horrifying myself that Aurelius can basically destroy Hawkins with his Obscurus power, like the wrong person sets him off on the lowest day and Vecna and the Mindflayer just gotta sit back and watch as the Obscurus levels Hawkins in an unfortunate fit of rage.

Note: Aurie is not as strong as the Mindflayer but maybe can kick the Meatflayer's ass (or whatever that thing in S3 was called), and can probably fight Vecna but again, limited powers sooo xD;; he may be OP as hell in theory but overuses his power to much and he gets very ill or can die if goes over the top D: sooo wooo limits.

Second, at this anon, I am their friend OOC but that also has nothing to do with this. I've seen you doing this to this person and others and I would love for you to knock it off both IC and OOC.

{ i think that my recent writing speaks for itself, heheh... i really like exploring relationships and how differences in personality can change how a relationship, romantic or platonic, can bloom. }

{ despite how reserved i can be in real life, i love how important connections are to anyone's life. no matter what genre i write, or games i play, i often seek out ways that the character(s) i play connect with the world around them (i.e. why would my character care about this objective?) if a game or show doesn't focus on that, i don't tend to enjoy it nearly as much. }

What are rare-pairs that you are passionate about, if any?

{ i never really gave much thought for ships in pokemon, unless they're hinted at in-game. this changed when i met and started writing with my partners. }

So, what should you listen to? That really depends on the genres you vibe with, but luckily, I’m not picky!

Recently, I’ve picked up Jambo. Rapper, but with huge range as far as the styling of his music goes. His most recent album has been pretty successfull, earning him his first Emma nomination too, which is really cool. And damn is he good live. He says he’s better live than in the studio and I fully believe that. Not to mention he has great chemistry with his band! Favourite songs of his, currently, are E18, Elefantti Huonees, Meille, and Ei Nabbaa. Those should show you pretty well the range of his style.

Pilvet Pilvet is another one I’ve gotten into recently. Really chill, soulfull rock. They are a really new band, only started releasing stuff last year, and are already climbing fast, doing shows with some big names like Joker Out and Robin Packalen. If you like Kuumaa, you’ll probably like these guys too. The vibes are a bit different but the music hits the spot. They have very few releases as of now, so pretty much all of it is good.

Similar to them, in just the last couple of weeks, I’ve gotten into Tiikerin Vuosi. Chill, more old school style Finnish rock. They headlined a May Day event in Helsinki this year, which I heard they applied for as somewhat of a joke, thinking they wouldn’t get the gig. Definitely worth it though, and I can see why they were picked. Songs I’d recommend are Töölönlahti and Sirkka Linnea (and Havis Amanda if they ever release that. It was written for the event but it was very catchy.)

Okay, those all are quite obscure picks, so let’s discuss some more arguably mainstream stuff.

I like rap, so one more rapper I’ve been head over heels for is Etta. Really strong party music, with some more hard hitting emotional stuff thrown into the mix. Her voice is really beautiful, and she also convinces live (you can watch her Emma Gaala performance from 2022 if you wanna get a taste). Klubiruusu, Demoneista Ystävii and Piilota Sun Sydän are good songs to start off with.

In the pop realm of things, right now I’ve been getting into Bee. She is also one of the breakthrough artists of last year, and has been getting a ton of radio plays for her singles Viimeisiä Sanoja and Silkkiin Verhoiltuna. Haven’t listened to much of her stuff yet beyond that, but as far as pop goes, she one of the few I’ve been recently inclined to check out.

Also, ever the queen, Kaija Koo is always a safe bet. Long career behind her and she’s still staying strong, this is like peak Finnish karaoke pop for middle ages women. Favourotes of mine are Mun Sydän, Sateenkaari Pimeessä and Tanssii Itsensä Kanssa.

Speaking of long career artists, Jenni Vartiainen has just made a comeback to the mainstream. She is a known name in pop, and has an absolutely gorgeous discography. Favourotes there are Ihmisten Edessä, Turvasana and Made In Heaven.

And just to round this off, as far as metal music goes, I’ve been getting into Arttu Lindeman. Nothing ground breaking there, but just some solid nu metal as he describes it. Really aggressive lyrics and all. Elä Niinku Huvittaa and Koirat Syö Koiria are the ones I started out with.

Okay, I could keep going but we’d be here all day, so I’ll leave you with this. Anything from the past 4 years of Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu is also mostly great (including the interval acts). Which is not surprising, since it is the song contest to highlight new music from Finland. Looking through those artists might take a while though, even if it’s only 7 competitors per year.

Stephen was quiet. Unusually quiet. Especially considering the words that just left your mouth.

"Stephen, did you hear me?"

"What?" he muttered without looking up from a text on obscure curses. "Yeah. Of course, I did."

His eyes continued to scan the page. So you waited. You waited and waited and waited. And after three pages flipped—he seemed be reading even slower than usual, slower than was ever necessary for him—you snapped your fingers in his face.

"And?" you pressed.

"And what? Is there more?"

"More? More aside from the fact that I'm going to try the board exams? Aren't you going to tell me, well, everything? I know you have an opinion on the matter."

"Nope." He beamed at you, slamming the book closed. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to get rid of the pilates machine in the basement or Wong is going to, you know, make me use it."

He left without another word. Without another word. Without another world. Without another word. It's not that you weren't used to Stephen having the last word of the conversation. But this? The last word with so few in between? Well, it was all you could think about when you received your results.

8th in the first phase.

At this point, you just had to show up to the interview. You could share even fewer words than Stephen did with you and you'd pass. You would pass.

It was the last thing you expected. Well, second to last. Because two seconds after seeing your results, you spun around to the familiar sizzle of orange sparks manifesting next to you. Stephen stepped though, signature smirk amply stamped on his face.

Your eyes flitted from your results to that smirk. That smirk. That damn smirk. And you shook your head as a smile crept upon your lips.

"Oh, you bastard."

"You rang?" he snickered.

"You knew. You knew this is what was going to happen, didn't you?"

"I couldn't say anything." He pressed his lips together. "Consider it a testament to my appreciation for you because God knows I wanted to say plenty."

"And now?"

"Well, now I can tell you everything. Including the sordid details about the food poisoning I got before my interview. Which I do not recommend, by the way. The food poisoning part, not the interview. Definitely do the interview."

You opened your mouth to speak. But Stephen held up a finger and clicked his tongue.

"Hey, I had to shut up for an entire 48 hours. It's my turn to talk." He breathed deeply, dramatically, and longingly. "It all started one cold November night—"

"Stephen!"

"Shows how well you're going to do in this interview, Sylpha. They don't like it when you interrupt, you know? Anyway, I was going to say," he sucked in a breath, "it all started on a cold November night..."

But the corner of Stephen's lip quirked in a grin.

"And I had never been more proud of you."

You cracked a smile, accepting the hug that he offered mid-sentence.

"Well," he muttered, "aside from the day you figured out Wong's birthday. I'm still bitter you put it together before me."

"Thanks, Stephen."

"Anytime. Just, for the love of God, do not eat anything even remotely suspicious beforehand. That's advice from my past self, not the future."

Stephen withdrew, straightening his posture and clearing his throat. He raised a brow and cocked his head to the side.

"Now, for the real reason I'm here. Will you come back and help me get rid of this fucking pilates machine?"

"Of course. I'll always help you."

"Same. All you have to do is ask."

Who the heck is my muse anyway:

My muses are separated into three tiers:

Primary muses: My main ones. The ones I'm sure, I have a better grasp on and have far more consistency with than others. (Morty, Juan, Barry and Drake).

Secondary muses: Muses that were basically NPCs, turned into muses. They can be fickle at times, since they aren't exactly my priority. It only means I prefer reserving these guys, for far more plotted oriented stuff. Rather than just blindly tossing them around. (Prof. Rowan and Brendan)

Tertiary muses: AKA - friends only or long time partners muses. I only use these characters with a select few people, it is nothing personal. I'm merely managing my RPs, furthermore I have my own reasons for only wanting to use them with a select few people. I'll be the one approaching people about these muses. (Lance)

I feel like I got a pretty neat variety in type of muses, to offer folks. But at the same time, some may be a tad obscure to some folks. Which is all A-OK for me. I'm still deciding whether or not, I'll bring back some other old muses I had.

I've mentioned this in private before, but it's also important to have this "officially" on the blog, so!

Ghost's height is kinda fluid between universes, and changes a little bit depending on the crossover!

On average though, they usually tend to be somewhere around 1 to 2 feet tall (30 to 60cm), measured from the bottom of their feet to the flat part of their head (so, not including their horns. Those would add a bit of extra height).

Their Shade/Void form does look a little taller than regular Ghost, however! This is because one, their Void tendrils are actually a fair bit longer than their "cloak" is, and extend past their legs. So, while they would be the same height if you continued to measure them starting from their feet, when Ghost is in the air and those legs are pretty much completely obscured by their Void tendrils, you'd be more inclined to measure from the bottom of those tendrils instead, which adds a couple inches. Secondly, their ability to float probably also throws off others' perception of their height, since you wouldn't be looking down at them from on the ground and instead they can better match the eye level of whoever they're speaking to.

Some height examples are below, for those who are interested:

For their regular Hollow Knight verses, I really don't care about specifics. We have their canonical height compared to all the other characters in the game, so I just base it off of that instead of coming up with specific measurements n shit. If my writing partner views the characters as being literally bug-sized, sure, whatever, we'll do that. If they think of them as being human-sized, that's fine too! Personally I'm a little inclined to think of Hallownest as being kinda like the Kirby universe, where everything is pretty small compared to the real world (since Kirby is canonically 8 inches tall, so we can base all of the other measurements off of that), but isn't at a microscopic level or anything. But overall I still don't care too much. And for OCs, you can just tell me, like, are they roughly Hornet-sized? Hollow-sized? Ghost-sized? Etc.

For crossovers like Smash Bros., where there's a lot of height variation among all the characters, Ghost is roughly Kirby-sized. So here, they'd be closer to the one foot mark. Tiny little Void god babies go brrrrr :). They're a little taller than Kirby though, even without the horns (since Kirby is a lot rounder than Ghost, so their extra height balances things out). I'd say Kirby reaches up to Ghost's eyes, but I haven't decided if that's the top of their eyes, just below them, or somewhere in between.

In Pokémon, Ghost is also closer to one foot, being somewhere around the height of a Phantump and a Mimikyu. Since that way, it'd still make sense for trainers to potentially mistake them as being one of those Pokémon (or at least some sort of variant of them). They'd be pretty big for a Mimikyu, but. Shhhh dgdgsh

Cookie Run is the main reason for Ghost's height changing so much asgshs. Here, they're closer to two feet tall, because when I'm writing primarily with an absolutely gigantic character, I don't really want tiny one-foot-tall Ghost to be nearly the size of the other muse's hand SGHSDGSF. So! Their height gets doubled here. I don't really see myself writing with too many other Cookie Run blogs, since I'm not actually in the fandom myself, but if I did, then maybe Ghost's height would vary a bit from mun to mun?? But I dunno.

With Hades, I'm still a little conflicted. I do think it'd be really cute if Zagreus could put Ghost on his shoulder or head, though. Like Pikachu in the Pokémon anime! So yeah, somewhere in the middle of the spectrum, maybe a little closer to two feet..?

I do think it would be neat to throw Ghost into the Undertale universe, especially since lately I've had more Thoughts about it than I have in years, but I'm not certain how tall I want Ghost to be there. I think some of my struggle comes from not knowing the heights of the canon characters. Like, I'd like to say that Ghost is between Frisk and Flowey's height, but if Flowey is as tall as a regular tiny flower, then that doesn't really mean anything. Maybe they'd be roughly half of Frisk's height? Since I can't imagine Frisk being more than four or five feet tall, and even then maybe less. And if we say Flowey is at least roughly one foot tall (or more), then yeah, I imagine Ghost would be slightly taller than him. So yeah, maybe 1.5 to 2 feet here? I dunno if they'd be the same height for Deltarune too, but. Probably.

That’s an interesting question anon, and I actually went and looked through the wiki just to refresh my memory a bit on what kind of gem designs we saw. Now that I have my answer to this is no, I don’t think gems look too human like. 

It of course makes sense for the show to make the gems look human adjacent in a way. Even if it doesn’t make the most logical sense that an alien race would share so many similarities with humans. Though gems could just be the exception here and other aliens look more odd.  But it also doesn’t make sense that they all speak earth language (even though I actually have a HC/theory on that but that’s not for now) 

I think gems look alien enough to get the point across while not getting to obscure with their designs. There is also really no limit to what gems could look like since they bodies are made out of light and we know corruption can make them look different as well. 

So for short I like the gem designs and don’t think they are too human.

1. What is your favorite trope to rp?

//Hands down found family and platonic shit, just little soft moments between characters to emphasize their closeness. I admit there's something very validating and nice about writing those out.

2. Name 3 things you admire about OCs.

The fact that it's a character made from a blend of personal experiences and viewed experiences. It's a very creative outlet to make from technically scratch. Like a home cooked meal with only ingredients rather than a box mix. (THOUGH BOX MIXES ARE VALID TOO, speaking from experience of cooking)

How many of the ones i found manage to blend in with existing fandoms...it's something to be jealous of admittedly, and I write obscure muses.

Many OCs I've seen been like, a mun's long standing project and it shows for a lot of 'em. Dedication is there, and well, it can be turned into a book if they like!

3. Who are your longest rp friends?

When the final wire was cut, the entire city went black. The power grid was not tied to the network, but the outage was NULL’s only shot at preventing Ofiuco’s retrieval after she fell from the sky. The entire city fell still for five minutes before power returned, but this light only served to illuminate the next phase. It wasn’t like GPU had been without a backup plan. If they didn’t have a way to leverage the arrest of the Stars, then at the very least they could throw a wrench in their operation. 

However, the light of the moon and stars that shone down on the city in the dead of night was obscured by a sudden apparition. A floating island that existed beyond the flight limitations of the city obscured the view, almost the same size as the city itself and becoming a constant and looming darkness over the cityscape. It cast things into uncertainty, and all of the Shades remaining on the ground flocked up and into it... before a loud rumbling began. 

The island suddenly dropped and it inevitably looked as if it was about to crash into the city itself before stopping in a convenient location: just below the maximum flight limit. Beams of light soon extended from all around the floating island’s perimeter to Spirale below, their uses initially unclear.

That was, until, people began to step out of them. These weren’t NPCs nor agents, their ranks instead populated by the monstrous and the villainous. Enemies and rivals gathered from the worlds the characters had all been taken from, their sights set on razing the city. Chaos immediately unfolded where they landed, structures and people alike targeted while some of these foes sought conflict with their greatest nemesis.

If it was a device capable of receiving a signal, this distorted voice boomed over it. Many believed the speaker to be an enemy at first, probably one of the agents that had turned their world into disarray. Thankfully that wasn’t the case.

Whether these words inspired or not depended on the listener, but there was no denying the immediate threat of the invading force as well as the personal nature of some of these opponents. 

“To those ends, a gift!” This time the speaking voice was a familiar one as a dot of pink light zipped up from the depths of the hole, a familiar android plastered across every screen in the city. This time though her eyes weren’t red. A wave of light reverberated across the city from the flapping of Ofiuco’s wings, granting all it touched their weapons and abilities back for the time being. “Don’t forget there are people from the city itself still working with NULL. I know this is all hard to understand. You don’t know why you’re fighting nor do you know what you’re fighting.”

She exhaled before looking at the floating island above. “I guess there will be some explaining to do when all is said and done, but go! You need to reclaim the starry sky!”

INFORMATION

Welcome to part 2 of Security Breach! There’s a lot to cover here so we’ll try to be as specific as possible. But as always if you have a question don’t be afraid to send it to the ml!

What has happened? With the network shut down thanks to all the cut wires, NULL has wordlessly moved into their backup plan: completely razing the city from within.

To those ends they have summoned a floating island that eclipses the city, and from it enemies pour down from both the top and the light elevators that extend to the city from the floating island’s surface. 

These are not normal enemies however. They are villains and monsters from the worlds of your muses (more information including guidelines in the FAQ section). While they walk, talk, and hit as hard as the real things, they are completely under NULL’s control and share their goals.

This is a grand battle that will be fought on two stages: on the island below and flying structure above. 

Ofiuco has granted everyone their powers and abilities back, but is also enforcing a cap so the enemy forces can’t use game breaking powers. Since this is universal it will also affect the characters within the group (more information in the FAQ section).

For those that are powerless: you will be able to access your Fantasia avatars via the Spirale Alternate World Life app. This feature will be removed at the end of the event, and it will not work for characters that already have powers. 

We will be running this poll until 12:01AM EST on May 1st. Based on the results the story and aftermath of the event will change. 

FAQ

Everyone’s powers are unlocked but are there limitations like in part 1? Yes there are! Abilities used must be tier 6 or higher by vsbattlewiki standards. Obviously these could easily destroy an island, but while structures can be destroyed the island Spirale is on and the island in the sky are both impervious to damage from these attacks. If your character possesses an ability that exceeds this ranking you can tone it down, but some things are strictly off limits like conceptual abilities in certain instances (conjuring items or allies en masse, erasing existences, etc are not allowed). These guidelines are consistent between both sides so as not to break the world.

What’s this about Fantasia and the Spirale Alternate World Life app? Last summer we held an event called the Fantasia War where characters were placed in a fantasy setting with fantasy avatars. At the event’s conclusion we made Fantasia into an MMO game that can be accessed in the Intraspace, and everyone’s avatars have been preserved there. The SAWL app is an app we introduced to allow MMO characters (like from SAO) to be able to switch between their normal and game forms at will, and it is having its functionality temporarily  boosted to let people use their Fantasia avatars, including the attached powers, during the event. This app will not show up for anyone that has powers of their own. 

If your character was not present during Fantasia you can still create your own avatar! You can still find the list of available races here and list of available spells here. 

Villains and enemies are pouring out of the flying island? What does this entail? Essentially what it sounds like. You will have the unique opportunity to bring in villains, monsters, or machines as agents of NULL. They will act as they would in canon, but are dedicated to their cause of destroying the city and killing off its citizens. There are, of course, limitations:

only one boss-tier enemy per mun per series can be brought in. you can bring in as many trash mobs (generic monsters, grunts, etc.) as you want, but you can only choose one powerful opponent. you can just say what kind of mobs might be running around for others to deal with in their threads, but the boss-tier foe must be controlled by you.

boss-tier enemies can be sentient, but they don’t have to be. if you want to bring in things like giant machines that are piloted by grunts, these still count as boss-tiers however.

you cannot bring in an enemy that exists on the masterlist

enemies, including boss-types, can be overlapped throughout a cast to avoid the possibility of someone claiming a boss just to deny other cast members from interacting with them. however do not have these duplicates interact / in the same thread.

The best way to keep this in order would be to make a post introducing the kinds of trash mobs you’d see running around as well as the boss-type you plan on controlling. People can then use the mobs in their threads if they choose, or approach you to interact with the boss. Likewise, you can keep the boss for more personal threads or drabbles. It’s really up to you!

I don’t really have any enemies in my series and I’m not comfortable using mobs from others. Are there any other options for what I can fight? Yes! The Shades are still around, as are a plethora of generic fantasy monsters for you to fight!

Are the weather conditions from part 1 still ongoing? No, those have come to a halt! However the island above blocks all of the weather in general.

Speaking of the floating island. We can go to the top, right? What’s up there? To put it simply: it’s a mess. Whether NULL had difficulty importing code or if it was just a big error, assets from every series imaginable compose the landscape. Maybe you’d see a building from BLEACH, but then one from Naruto right beside it. Some assets have even been merged together. Pieces of it glitch out and redesign constantly, so it’s almost a depressing mockery of Spirale in a way. There are hills and rivers too, but even those are constantly shifting position.

While tons of enemies have poured onto the streets of Spirale, there are plenty waiting on standby atop the flying island. To go it alone would be a terrible idea.

Can we destroy the flying island itself? No! You can destroy the structures on top but new things will eventually sprout up in their place. The ground and undersides seem to be protected by an impenetrable barrier. But even if you could, do you really want it crashing onto the city below?

Where should we put big, newsworthy posts during this event? Please use the tag ‘#isola sb2 news’ as opposed to the regular ‘#isola news’ tag during this part of the event. We anticipate a lot of people are going to want to do cool and interesting things that they want everyone to see so we want you guys to have a space for this, but we also do not want to clutter the regular news tag.

JUDGE PROFILE: ZOEY YING

the only sane judge on this panel! ahem, uh, i mean. out of the three judges attending this contest, zoey ying is the one with the most experience, both as a coordinator and as a judge. she’s been registered as a contest judge ever since she won that grand festival at age 11, and though she had to work a few side jobs along the way, she’s had the time since then to devote her entire heart and soul into coordinating. on top of her status as top coordinator, she’s an olympic-level figure skater who also loves skating for show, and she has trained several of her pokémon to be just as good while skating in their appeals. she has so much invested in the performing arts--she lives and breathes them in every aspect of her life. can you believe this girl is still considering law school?

as a judge, she is level-headed, honest, and above all, professional. she can be fairly blunt with her critiques, and she’s not afraid to let you know if you’ve done a bad job; in the past, she used to be a tad like simon cowell herself. but over the years, she’s gotten better at framing her critique as helpful rather than negative. it’s not impossible for her to develop some serious beef with the way a contestant comports themselves onstage; after all, she’s only human. but her strong sense of obligation always overrides it: she never lets foul emotions get in the way of doing her professional duty. in conclusion? i’m not fucking kidding when i say that zoey is the only judge whose score would be an accurate reflection of your muse’s actual ability. zoey for best girl.

LIKES.

it’s rare for zoey ying to be as flashy as her companions tobias and ursula during a performance, and it’s rare for her to like performances along their lines as well. true to her modest nature, zoey values simplicity and efficiency in a performance; she wants peoples’ and pokémons’ talents to shine through without giving the impression that they’re trying too hard. she appreciates technical complexity, but along more elegant and understated lines; too many bold visuals with no substance will bore her. 

like tobias, she also enjoys more cerebral performances. appeals with symbolism and messages that you really have to think about in order to appreciate. while she’s not as educated as he is and won’t pick up on obscure references to, say, poems by little-known authors or cultural details that aren’t widely available on google, she’s smart enough to make insights about the meaning of a piece, and smart enough to reward you for them. (although if you make references to chinese history and culture, that’s right up her alley!)

she loves appeals where pokémon get to show off talents other than their moves! several of her ‘mons are figure skaters, so of course she’ll love to see that, but if they got any other things to showcase--ribbon-dancing, baton-twirling, instrument-playing--then she’ll give you a heaping dose of points! 

as a chinese woman, she does have very high standards for the aesthetic of your performances. her ancestral country, after all, is the one that produced that unforgettable 2008 olympic opening ceremony, and our nation has also produced such marvels as coaching dozens of deaf dancers to flawlessly execute a dance based on the goddess of a thousand hands. being chinese has sort of spoiled her when it comes to the performing arts, and that is the sort of thought and effort she expects out of the people she observes onstage. again, though, she prefers simple yet powerful visuals. this 2008 olympics performance of 2,008 drummers chanting a line from confucius’ analects? flawless. but if the drums started changing into psychedelic colors while they were doing it? too much.

finally, she loves detail. she has an eye for the intricacy in simplicity, the beauty that comes not from the largeness and boldness of a statement but rather the nuance which makes it so powerful. elegant details that don’t overstate themselves with complexity appeal to her.

DISLIKES.

her fellow judges tobias and ursula are all about trainer participation in appeals. canonically, however, zoey has been shown to dislike performances that have too much trainer involvement in proportion to pokémon involvement. (my memory can be pretty awful sometimes, but this is one of the things that stands out in it.) since this is a showcase, in which the spotlight is more on the trainer and not the pokémon, she’s more lenient. however, if the performance is like 90% trainer and the pokémon are reduced to mere stage hands, she’s going to have an issue.

she also absolutely loathes performances that she finds to be “too loud,” no matter how well they’re done. whether it’s the loudness of the music or the loudness of the color, you can bet she’ll have something to say about it.

unlike tobias, who loves breaking the rules and greatly enjoys a good roast, zoey is very strait-laced and traditional, and will dock points of anything that she finds to be too controversial in its messaging. this includes sexual themes. unlike ursula, who finds her head easily turned by performances that are sexual or romantic in nature, zoey tends to find explicit content quite objectionable. she’s most likely asexual, like the mun, so suggestive content such as jules’ performance in the last ILWD will make her go “?????” at best, or be distasteful and unprofessional to her at worst. 

a special note: as an ace-questioning woman, one of the reasons she thinks she’s ace is because she’s never been invested in romantic content. she will look at a romance-centered performance and think “that’s nice,” just like with every other performance. but if you’re expecting to move her to tears by depicting a heartbreak or the story of star-crossed lovers, you’ll be disappointed. moreover, romantic subtext--especially gay and lesbian subtext--will fly right over her head. (really ironic if you think about it, considering she’s judging a valentine’s contest.)

also due to her straitlaced traditionality, she’s not as much in favor of artistic experimentation as tobias is. while an avant-garde performance will excite him, she’ll probably just find it weird.

also unlike ursula, she doesn’t have much taste for cute and frilly things. her brand of femininity is more reserved, and she finds popping pinks and flouncing lace to be overdone and cliché. 

she just really doesn’t like too much color contrast or color brightness in general. and if the colors are bright and contrasting? good fucking luck.

speaking of contrasting colors--whereas ursula will get bored by a monochrome performance, and whereas ursula likes her colors to pop, zoey is more drawn to muted pastels and greys. she also likes themed palettes instead of the arbitrary explosions of color that characterize many an amateur performance, so color-coordinating your outfit and the shades of your moves will do better in her eyes.

“Instead of wasting our time persuading a clearly uncooperate individual - one who also assisted a murderer, no less -, our time would be more wisely spend on discussing more important matters.”

Given how long this trial had been going on already, it was probably a surprise to suddenly hear Veronica speak up. If one had casted a glance her way beforehand, they may have seen that she had been massaging her head for quite some time. It wouldn’t be much of a surprise to find this whole situation headache-inducing, huh? And the mun needed a reason for someone like Veronica to stay quiet for so long, but ssshhh.

“For the “dummy ritual circle” - as you all dub it -, it was either delibaretly set up that way or it tells us where Murakami-san was assaulred first. Either way, I do not think solving this particular puzzle will bring us any closer to the identity of our culprit - which is our first and foremost priority, all things considered.”

“I am also not quite certain whether our culprit truly needed to have bad eyesight - do not forget that the murder occured in the middle of the night - which means  that it was dark outside. Unless you have night vision googles, everyone would have trouble coordinating through a forest - especially if one wore a bedsheet as a means to obscure one’s identity.”

It’s also possible that someone is simply blessed with good night vision - or bought themselves magic that enhanced their seeing abilities, but tossing out too many possibilities at once may just end up confusing the others.

“I would also like to make a comment about the slashes found within some trees - as Katagiri-san already pointed out, they must have happened either before Murakami-san was stabbed to death or they had multiple knives with them... though it is also possible that they have acquired a dagger from one of the shops - or used magic to do such cuts to begin with.”

Well, so much for not tossing in too many possibilities at once!

“All that aside, there is one fact that we can be relatively certain of - unless Inaba-san is actually our culprit and has lied about seeing a ghost to begin with, but I do believe the chances of such a turn of events happening are relatively low.”

Not to mention, if it were to happen, she knew her headache would just worsen - so she hoped that she would be spared of such an outcome.

“Liu-san, GrimmZB-san, Deville-san and Noariko-san are too short for the description that we were given. I do believe that if they were around her height, she would’ve noted as much. Thus, we can tentatively sort out Valentine-san, Hanada-san and Amajiki-san as well.”

“This would leave us with Cracker Jack-san, Katagiri-san, Imamizo-san, Chiketsu-san, Suzunaki-san, Tsukasa-san and myself. Judging by the evidence that we have uncovered, none of them appear to link to Cracker Jack-san, Katagiri-san, Tsukasa-san or myself. If we can potentially count out those who have discovered the body - after all, the hydra never outright denied that the murderer didn’t count amongst them -, it would leave us with Imamizo-san and Suzunaki-san. If the murderer can be counted within the afromentioned group, Chiketsu-san would also become a suspect.”

At that point, she glanced towards Chiketsu, her face remaining ever-so aloof as she made her case.

“As you were my roommate, you would be well acquainted with my attire by now - so claiming that you can see my cross from afar wouldn’t amount to much - it isn’t that small, either. Regardless, given your talent, I do not think it would be strange to assume that you might wish to carry a knife around in case you wish to acquire some... fantastical blood from the otherwordly creatures here. Or for self-defense purposes, but that could be said about everyone.”

“It also doesn’t help that you appear to get along with Suzunaki-san - something that not many of us can claim, from what I have observed. However, Imamizo-san is also incredibly suspicious in lieu of possessing so many knives to begin with. On the other hand, she does not seem to regard Suzunaki-san in high-esteem and vice-verca - ‘lest they are simply acting it out. As for Suzunaki-san... well, I do think her actions and words speak for themselves. Self-framing is a thing, so I wouldn’t be surprised if she tried her hand on that, as much as she wishes to deny it.”

A hand gingerly placed on her hip, she let her eyes wander around, looking at her classmates calmly.

“... Unless new evidence is brought up or someone can vouch for another during the time that Murakami-san was assaulted, it appears as if we have no choice but to choose from those three.”

reed newton was born in london england to sylvia anne bixby and cornelius otis newton and honestly, he’s regretted it ever since.

newt was an accident. he was the product of one of his mother and father’s first ever lustful encounters, and their subsequent shotgun wedding so honestly they both spent most of newt’s formative years in the honeymoon period. some of newt’s earlier memories are of him walking in on his parents doing the devil’s tango in the broom closet and his nanny rushing to cover his eyes. good times. 

honestly newt walked in on his parents doing the do more times than any kid should have before the age of nine. and then he walked in on a parent doing the do with a non parent. in other words newt got an eyeful of his father and the pool boy and it wasn’t long after that that his parents went through a long and messy divorce. once again, good times. 

his mother decided to pack up their things and move herself and her nine year old very impressionable son to nebraska, because fuck that kid amiright. newt was quickly designated as the skinny weird nerdy kid with glasses and a funny little accent, and so as you can guess he was pretty mercilessly bullied from age nine to eighteen. he really never stood a chance.

i feel like this is a good time to mention that newt’s mother was a sex therapist, which is not the same as a regular therapist but still, therapist is in the name. he should have been able to talk to his parent in this time of strife and get some level of support right? nope. sylvia bixby is well known for writing a men are from mars, women are from venus like book on communication and dating and all that, so his mom was generally on book tour after book tour. but maybe she would have been supportive if she was ever actually around, right? again, nope. 

unbeknownst to newt whenever his mother was around she was not only just casually psycho analyzing her only child for shits and giggles, no, she as also writing about it. newt’s mother wrote an entire book about raising a highly repressed teenage son with newt as the star, and you can only guess what that did for newt’s stellar high social status in high school. nothing great. 

did newt ask her not to publish it once he realized she had wrote it? yes. did she still publish it? also yes. so newt and his mother no longer have the greatest relationship. holidays are awkward.

things were not better on his fathers end, but it wasn’t because his father particularly did anything nearly as tone deaf as his mother. yes, his father was a famous erotica novelist and yes that made newt’s life a living hell, but newt luckily wasn’t the subject of those books. neil transitioned from writing fabio like novels to writing some lgbt fiction which, great for representation, horrible for your teenage son who is now known around school for having a dad who writes porn. to top it off, neil ended up starting a long term relationship with the pool boy and gaining a pseudo step son from it. benjamin caley was not only more athletic than newt, not only more attractive than newt, but also better than newt in every single way imaginable which was a real self esteem booster. his father actively prefers benji and every time newt visits him in england over the summers he comes home hating himself a bit more.

which works out because after the book being published, most people kind of hated newt too so at the very least he was on trend. there was a lot of classic nineties bullying you know, wedgies, swirlies, shoving newt into lockers. all very cliche. newt would tell his bullies as much, but it never really went over that well. 

but then finally newt graduated. he was free from the hell that was the public education system and his childhood household. he graduated with honours, moved out of his mother’s house, and got himself his own apartment with a roommate near the mall where he got his first real job. 

goes to university for software engineering. has an internship at apple that he’s absolutely terrified to mess up. has an old beat up car that was like the first big purchase he ever made with his own money, so he loves it to death even though it’s a piece of shit. 

PERSONALITY.  do you fear me? don’t feel so special now. i have social anxiety. i fear everybody.

this is my first time playing newt so all of this is subject to change BUT

INSECURE. newt is a weird mix of cripplingly insecure and weirdly confident and there is no in between ever.

WITTY.  humour is and always will be the only defense newt has against anything, so he makes a lot of jokes especially when he feels uncomfortable.

EMPATHETIC. newt is a big push over when it comes to emotions like he would never do anything to hurt someone unless it was by accident or he was provoked or you’re his step brother benji or either of his parents in which case he will run you over with his car on sight. but no really, if newt is in a position where he has to hurt somebody he will do absolutely everything in his power to either not or avoid the situation completely. 

AWKWARD. sometimes honestly, although it depends on the day. v clumsy though. usually he can try to make his awkwardness funny but does he always succeed? the answer is no. 

HEADCANNONS.  actually all of my systems are nervous.

has to drink like six cups of coffee or tea a day. very serious about his tea because english. also has vegemite on his toast. 

can actually cook pretty well even though he prefers to eat takeout. cooks because it’s cheaper and he’s a broke ass student yk. won’t take money from his parents ever, and will straight up give it away if it’s forced upon him. 

writes star trek fanfic for fun and has a kind of weird relationship with writing because of his parents honestly?? but he enjoys it so, maybe the apple in fact does not fall from the tree. 

has commitment issues because of his parents divorce but don’t we all. 

developed a stutter after all the divorce drama because he thought it was his fault. he later had to see a speech therapist. his mother later had a fwb relationship with this same speech therapist. newt wanted to die. 

traded his glasses for contacts and you will literally only see newt in glasses if he rips or loses his contacts or if he’s at home. 

in love with all things sci fi, will rent and see every sci movie ever made if he can 

accidentally knocks down at least one display in babbages per day so there’s that.

speaking of newt runs a small side gig out of babbages where he fixes up tech because paying for university, rent, and car insurance out of pocket gets up there. so if you need someone to fix your desktop newt is your guy. 

is actually a pretty good flirt when he’s drunk or feels comfortable. is constantly teetering between painfully insecure and confident. 

is very bi and very hesitant about it because of his father and all his feelings towards that, but he will eventually stop fighting it so much soon hopefully. has probably had a few drunken hookups with guys but tries to convince himself that is just a drunk thing yk. 

is allergic to bees so death has a kiss just for him i guess. 

loves video games but that goes without saying

has anxiety and takes medication for it, one of the few healthy things his mother has ever done for him. 

speaking of his mother if newt ever sees her book about him in a book display he will spend as much time as needed taking each book and hiding them in obscure places so that no one will ever be able to find them and buy them. he read the whole thing because he had to know and yep he absolutely hates it. 

goes by newt and only newt so that no one can make the connection between him and his mother or his father upon first meeting him or hopefully ever. a lot of the kids he went to high school with still know though and with the accent and everything, he’s not fooling anyone who has at least heard a rumour

ROOMMATE. because newt can’t afford his place on his own between all his expenses. please. think of the shenanigans. 

ON AGAIN OFF AGAIN THING. kind of inspired by chandler and janice tbh. these two are pretty incompatible and whenever they’re together all they talk about is breaking up with each other but whenever they’re broken up and they see each other they somehow always find themselves waking up in bed together the next morning. it’s a mess.

NERD SQUAD. give me newt’s friends from high school please and thanks. just a crew of absolutely dweebs and misfits. 

FWB/EWB. self explanatory considering newt’s big commitment issues but i just imagine like making out in the back room and like hooking up in the break room and someone leaving like a damning article of clothing in there and the two of them scrambling to get it before anyone notices. just fun. 

EX. self explanatory but yes, an ex gf or bf, an ex fwb or ewb, give me all the exes please. 

REPEAT CUSTOMER. this person is always paying newt to come fix their computer and other tech and newt just doesn’t understand how they mess it up so badly. like he doesn’t get how or why technology hates them as much as it does, but he’ll take the money.

HATESHIP. just good old fashion animosity. could be hate from school or the fresh hate upon working in the mall together or they can just be newt’s least favourite customer and he can hate them for that. 

CRUSH. maybe newt had a crush on them in school. maybe they had a crush on newt in school. maybe newt has a crush on them now. maybe they have a crush on newt now. 

and anything else tbh. i’d love a smoking buddy for newt, a friend who he can never get any work done around like when they’re together they’re just like !!!, someone who used to be one of the popular kids who he is now getting along with or still holding a grudge against, his big gay awakening in school maybe like the first masc person he had a crush on, someone who tries to get newt to party and come out of his shell, someone who idk steals from babbages skjsdj idk man i am open to anything at all so just like this and we can brain storm if anything!
